VP Engineering and Cofounder · Starry Internet
2014–Present · BostonNationwide fixed-wireless internet service provider · Acquired by Verizon in Q1 2026
- Platform architecture. Built Starry’s service-oriented platform across AWS and on-premises infrastructure, network control, embedded devices, customer systems, and operations tools.
- Applied ML. Led ML work on network fault localization, anomaly detection, time-series forecasting, and churn prediction. This work reduced manual triage and improved QoS analysis.
- Reliability. Maintained 99.995% availability across about 2,000 servers through SLOs, observability, incident response, postmortems, and controlled releases.
- Operations tools. Built LLM agents that analyze outages and answer operations questions. Connected the agents to incident, customer, log, and metrics tools and added Langfuse tracing.
- Network automation. Designed and helped build systems for IPAM/DCIM, RADIUS address allocation, TR-069 device management, SNMP automation, monitoring, and alerts.
- Service foundations. Helped develop shared authentication, data, CI/CD, logging, and deployment systems for more than 150 Node.js services in a codebase of about 5 million lines.
- Team leadership. Hired and managed more than 50 engineers, technical leads, and managers. Mentored senior individual contributors and reviewed architecture, code, and production changes.
- Product launches. Managed ODM/OEM work with Cisco, Zyxel, Marvell, Zaram, and Quantenna from prototype through nationwide operation.
Hands-on engineering. Since 2014, made more than 10,000 commits, authored more than 1,700 pull requests, and completed more than 2,000 reviews in Starry’s private repositories.
Built a local workspace for concurrent coding-agent sessions. It reconciles live output with saved transcripts and provides model controls, transcript editing, forks, subagents, persistent memory, a terminal, and HTML export.
Built a library that turns Git history into fill-in-the-middle training examples. It supports PSM, SPM, ZED, and mixed formats with AST-aware cursor placement, quality filters, synthetic negative examples, and a dataset browser.
Built a snapshot engine that stores worktree checkpoints as Git tree objects in a separate object database. It supports diffs, selective restore, aliases, cleanup, and asynchronous Node.js bindings.
Built a project-scoped task system for AI agents. It detects dependency cycles and supports Git reconciliation, atomic snapshots, bulk operations, tags, archiving, and SQLite storage.
